So I have been getting frustrated this CHRISTmas season.....
Why do people have to put a damper on others spirit. Someone face booked that they weren't going to shove the whole Santa thing down their kids throat and that they will learn what CHRISTmas is all about. This makes me feel bad for her little ones. The magic they will miss, the excitement of it all. How will they feel as their friends talk about Santa, or get so excited about him. I understand it's her choice. But children are innocent for only a short time. The magic and enjoyment you see in their eyes is priceless. At out house we believe in Santa. I also teach the real meaning of CHRISTmas. But, guess what..... JB that is 5 and MK that is 2. Don't get that story. even if I remind them everyday, tell them the story over and over. They don't get we are celebrating CHRISTS birth, his life, and all that he did for us. Maybe I suck at teaching my kids I don't know. But to me celebrating Santa isn't all that bad as long as it's not the main focus and you still teach your kids the REASON FOR THE SEASON. My opinion they will learn more and more each year and come to understand the true meaning in their own time. They will not be ruined, they won't have to go to therapy, they will not end up in jail. They will come to understand and enjoy it.
Then there is the whole stupid thing about saying MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I got an email from JB's teacher asking if it would offend any of the parents if they sang songs that would say CHRISTMAS.... Again, taking everything out of the season. I know there are other religions and such out there. but why take it all away. let the kids be kids. let them enjoy it with their friends. I don't know maybe I will offend all of you and maybe this makes no sense to you at all. but I think you can have Santa & Christ at Christmas. It all depends on how much or how little you would like. Here is a book that I love I would love it if you could find it and read it. It made me a believer all over again. ' I Believe in Santa Clause' by Diane G. Adamson

Well Molly, you probably saw that I commented on her post and said that we don't do Santa either. So I don't want you to think I think I'm better than anyone because we don't do Santa. I hope you don't think that.
I also must say that I grew up in a home that didn't believe in Santa either, and I still had tons of excitement and joy and all of that.
I think to kids, Christmas is Christmas no matter how you slice it. There's excitement in it. And families are entitled to their own traditions, and no one should feel bad for what they decide to teach their children.
I hope you're doing great!
I mean no one should feel bad on either side. People who teach that Santa's real are not ruining their kids either.
I agree with you Molly. What we do in our house is the kids get 3 gifts just like Christ did from the wisemen and we don't go over board with Santa but he is definitely part of OUR Christmas. We teach our kids the real meaning of Christmas as well as focusing on giving and not the getting. kids are kids and they will always think about getting presents and I am okay with that. I agree that anyone can celerate how ever they want as long as they don't worry about anyone else. I am really sick of seeing "X" mas everywhere and happy holiday instead of Merry Christmas. i get more annoyed by people trying to take Christ out of the whole thing more than removing Santa though.
Sometimes you just gotta vent though right! wow, I think I just did too. I hope you have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Merry CHRISTmas! I believe its about Christ, but for the kids sake you got to do both. Jordan didnt want the kids to believe in santa, but I see nothing wrong with it? I believed in santa and I am perfectly normal, well the insane part of me is not caused by santa. Good luck, and just do what YOU feel is right. Its your kids!
